Spain
Biodiversity on Europe’s largest peninsula
Highlands and mountains determine the Spanish mainland. Hardly any place inland is below 600 meters above the sea level. „Meseta“ is the name of the vast, largely flat plateaus which are hot and arid in summer and windy and cold in winter.
The Iberian ibex is probably the most popular representative of Spain’s fauna. It lives in the Sierra Nevada mountains and other mountainous regions of southern Spain and is best known of the four species of ibex. Because of the large, sparsely populated high mountain regions in the south of the country, there is currently a healthy population of around 10.000 individuals.
The flight of the red partridge is one of the fastest and most exciting that a hunter can imagine. It is therefore the supreme discipline for the shotgun shooter. You have to reckon with high hunting fever here, because the density of game is excellent.
The wild boar drive hunt, or „Montería“ in Spanish, is a traditional and authentic Spanish type of hunt. Dog handlers with a pack of so-called „rehalas“ drive the animals to the individual hunting stands. The unpredictable reactions of these wild Spanish sows infuse this experience with adrenaline and intensity. A quick shot is required here.
Next to the brown bear, the Spanish red deer is the largest and most majestic game species in Spain. It is stalked and hunted in Spain. The same applies to the smaller fallow deer. Therefore, hunting opportunities for both game species in one drive hunt are possible and represent an extraordinary big game hunt.
The Barbary sheep is a Berber sheep, originally from Africa and has adapted very well to the conditions in Spain. It is shy and can only be hunted when stalking. The hunter is rewarded with an exotic trophy after a successful hunt.
